Second year student-Lou Oakley-Green.
Over the summer I have had the amazing opportunity to work with Amy Spicer, October Studios http://www.octoberstudios.co.uk creating some woolly installations for a barn party for Red Tractor on Alex James’ farm in the Cotswolds on 8th August, and Alex James’ party tent (and VIP area) for The Big Feastival, run by Alex James & Jamie Oliver, at the end of August.
The interior was a collaboration with Wool & the Gang so I have worked with their Crazy Sexy Wool to make crochet jar covers, large wooly crochet balls with tassels (as the centrepiece for a gigantic wooly chandelier), and I designed and stitched a 2.5 x 5m cross stitch wall for the VIP area.
I worked with Amy and her team for the day to install the interior for the Red Tractor event, and subsequently spent three days back on the farm installing the interior for the ‘Cheese Hub’ for the Feastival. It was thrilling to see my work on show during the Feastival, and hearing lovely comments from festival goers enjoying the decor. Seeing my work in the background of loads of images on social media has been so rewarding! The Cheese Hub rocked all weekend!!
It has been an amazing opportunity to work on these projects with Amy, and its been so exciting to be able to input creatively into the projects. To have the chance to see a project like this through from the design stages, installation, and even ‘break down’ has been fantastic.
