Fantastic feedback for the work we are showing at New Designers.
I will be contacting all the studios upon my ‘return to work’ (ahem)…. to take forward their offers of interships for our up and coming 3rd and 2nd yrs and future design and project collaborations.I appreciate your committment, support and enthusiasm.

Lotte is hard at work turning her cityscapes into fascinating textile pieces.She is working a strong colour palette with a considered drawing style.

These beautiful images of everyday landscape were recorded by Sophie -Anne O’Connell onto found card.Each image explores a different aspect of what could be termed as conventional scenes and each from a unique view point or perspective.
Sophie developed these ideas further by translating the imagery and retaining the colour palette into flowing printed scarves and shawls.

Colour is an integral part of studio practise. Here Sian is extensively researching into fibre, fabrics and the reaction to both organic and chemical colouring.

3RD YEAR student Rebecca Connolly is delighted to learn that her woven blanket fabric, using British wool, has been selected as a prize winner in the Bradford Textile Society Design Competition 2014
She chose to use Shetland wool in 3 colours, extending the palette by over dyeing.
Rebecca was awarded 2nd place and £250 in the section sponsored by the British Wool Marketing Board.
When collecting her prize Rebecca was thrilled to learn she had won an additional accolade , The Campaign for Wool Award, sponsored by The Campaign for Wool (patron HRH Prince of Wales) of a weeks placement with £500 for expenses. The placement is specifically tailored to the interests/discipline of the winner.
Rebecca collected her awards at the Annual Design Seminar and the Design Awards ceremony in Saltaire, Bradford on May 13 th.
