How creativity is helped by failure

Experiments with architecture and pattern

Continuing with the theme the 1st years explore movement, shape, scale, texture and distribution.
and subconsciously making design decisions that will translate into less obvious textile outcomes.

Professional standards

The 3rd years step up to the mark and produce work of industry standard.
They will spend this academic year honing their skills to produce a professional portfolio ready for the commercial world.

When mark meets colour

and now the sensitivity of mark marking and the use of colour are combined to explore future possibilities in textile design.
The first year will continue to look, particularly at texture, scale and backgrounds, to develop their personal hand signature.

Understanding

We believe that a really good grasp and understanding of colour basics allows the student to realise and create their own colour identity. It’s then that the student starts to think ‘what if I…..’?
The rules begin to be broken and new and exciting trends start to emerge.
Not only do students gain confidence in their ability they also become independent, secure in the knowledge that, if they get lost, they can always go back to the beginning and reinvent. It’s a magical time.
