Volunteering abroad

Final year student (Textile Design for Fashion and Interiors) Chanel Buckland, has taken the opportunity to share her volunteering experiences with students from across all years

Chanel has a wealth of ideas, tips and suggestions to make your contribution to this worthwhile cause a success.

On this occasion Chanel talked about her time in Nepal, Thailand and Cambodia.

These experiences have inspired her to complete her degree by using the images and drawings from her travels to inform her final project.

Sharing the passion for Textiles

Up Late at the Holburne Museum, Bath.

Our students thoroughly enjoyed sharing their love and passion for textiles with the wider public.
The 2nd yr’s had responded to the museum collections and their responses and interpretations were on display for all to see and admire.

The feedback was tremendously postive from students and visitors and from the museum staff too.
Here’s to next year.

The School of Art and Design has acquired a ‘new to them’ building.
The Action Factory on Locksbrook Road in Bath, in the UK.

The iconic building is situated next to the river and within walking distance of both the city centre and the main student accommodation.

Although textiles won’t be centred there we will of course use all the facilities and be part of the bigger picture.
We have our own exciting plans under wraps and, as they say, watch this space.

Currently there’s a staff exhibition in part of the space and this show, along with the student exhibition at Sion Hill, has been drawing in the crowds.

If you missed our show we will be at New Designers from Weds 28th June until Sat 1st July 2017 and then again at RHS Hampton Court from July 4th -9th July 2017

Please say Hi. We love to talk to you.

Below are pictures from the show and images of the building before the adaptation.

Global Citizenship:Sarah Cluse

Sarah, collects her certificate after successfully completing her award.

We were delighted last evening to attend the Global Citizenship awards ceremony at the university’s Newton Park campus.

In the most beautiful surroundings Textile Design for Fashion and Interiors’s very own Sarah was presented with the award.

As part of her commitment to gaining the award Sarah enjoyed a period of study in Norway.
Sarah is enthusiastic about the scheme and encourages others to apply to be part of this enhancing experience.

Many many congratulations Sarah.
